To The Summitt of White Horse!!
October 1999
In the Autumn, on Columbus Day weekend, we went back to North Conway. Friday was rainy, so we just hung around. Saturday we practiced our climbing skills at Cathedral Ledge. Cathy even seconded the first two pitches of the Thin Air face! Then our moment of truth came! Sunday morning we set out to climb White Horse Ledge to the summit - a 800 vertical foot climb. True it was 800 vertical feet, but it is also 1,200 feet of climbing no less. Jay led off on our mixed route, followed by Cathy, and then myself roped to the two kids. It was quite an expedition! Cathy did an absolutely amazing job. Her abilities and talents on rock constantly amaze me, and I think that they surprise Cathy as well! The kids were phenomenal as well! They handled everything that came their way with strength and talent. I wish that I could have watched them more, but I was too busy just trying to keep up with them! They are both very agile and quick on rock. Needless to say, summitting White Horse is a great source of Pride for all of us!
Cathy's On Her way!!
We made it at last!!
